WHY WE ARE OBSESSED WITH POCKET WATCHES AND OLD-FASHIONED PENS

Lessons at the University of Oxford, flat caps, ivy gardens, afternoon tea, blazers, tweed jackets, brogues, chocolate, pocket watches, extravagant dinners, expensive cigarettes, chapels, old cars, champagne and strawberry picnics in kayaks, horses, fountains and statues, a certain teddy bear named Aloysius and the most wonderful theme ever. Brideshead Revisited is a story about the special friendship between two at the start very unworried boys in England during the 20s and 30s, one an artist and the other from the very upper class. But also a story about how the Catholic world of Brideshead, the most decadent castle you could imagine, fell apart.

ON MY WALL... SOMEDAY

So many projects I'm not finished with yet! Like this little advertisement for Chanel No. 5, a magazine cutting from the 50s. I'm out of glue at the moment, but as soon as I've bought some...

DEAR LANDLORD, I HAVE VERMIN IN MY APARTMENT. MAY I PLEASE HAVE SOME MORE?

AND THEN WHAT HAPPENED?

There's something special about old photographs that I just love. This postcard is from the 20s, when people looked like this.

CLYDE A UNE PETITE AMIE

Serge Gainsbourg and Brigitte Bardot - Bonnie & Clyde (clearer version)

A few months ago I tried to use Paint to create something, just for a little change and for fun, and this is the result. Andy Warhol and this were my inspiration sources.

ONE DAY LATE BUT ALMOST

ABOUT A TOWN

Once upon a time, there was a little, richly coloured town that lay between two mountains in an unknown country. In that town, people only ate cakes and drank hot chocolate, and every time it rained they hung up pink, blue and yellow umbrellas in the trees. Sometimes it rained for so many weeks that the umbrellas melted away and the whole town was covered with water. It actually didn’t matter so much because the water was warm and you could swim around instead of walking till the water had dried out. All the trees and all the flowers had got so much water and grew so much that they almost touched the clouds. The people lived in the trees, they sat on the branches and dangled with their legs and instead of cakes they ate apples and pears and instead of hot chocolate they made tea of lemons and oranges. When the first snow fell, the trees and the flowers died. The people cut them down and made a big fire so they could keep themselves warm during the winter.

A few months later, the trees and the flowers had grown again and the people were so happy that they organized a big party with balloons and fruit salad and they danced till the stars woke up and the moon rose and shone over everything. One year some of the kids tried to sing “Twinkle twinkle little star” but they were so bad at it that the stars cried. They never sang again after that, at least not that song.

If you ever visit this town, remember to ask someone what they call it. The few times I’ve been there, I forgot to ask. But when I think about it, maybe the town doesn’t have a name. Also remember to bring some food with you, you can get a little tired of cakes and fruits after a while.

VIVRE SA VIE

Because we love the smokey, black & white French New Wave movies from the 60s, especially if they include Jean-Luc Godard and Anna Karina.
